The German podcast ‘Mord auf Ex’ recently recorded an episode about Sophia and her mysterious disappearance. The makers did reach out to us prior to going on air and asked permission to use photos they had found on find Sophia. The information for the podcast was also taken from the website. This was reassuring as the information found here is correct or, in case of factual inaccuracies, comment has been added.

It appears that various material about Sophia and her disappearance is going around on YouTube and social media that we are not aware of. The factual correctness of these ‘productions’ is doubtful. We watched one of those clips on YouTube and had a strong impression that it was AI-generated. Emails to the address with this particular account went unanswered.
We do not know wat motivates these people but we do know it is painful that complete strangers appropriate our Sophia for their own interests and don’t care much about facts.
This painful phenomenon seems to affect quite a lot of people whose lives have been shaped by tragic events that have received media attention.
It is important that Sophia is not forgotten but it is also important that her story is told in a truthful way and it is not difficult to reach out to us.
‘Mord auf Ex’ is a popular true crime podcast in Germany with an average of one million listeners per episode. The title is a bit hard to translate and although ‘Mord’ means ‘murder’ their subjects vary from organised crime, disappearances to cold cases and fraude.
